RF Headphones, Wireless Anyone?

RF headphones are known commonly as wireless headphones. The RF abbreviation stands for radio frequency. These headphones have a transmitter and receiver which emit radio waves to trasmit the sound all over your house of office. I like to describe it as having your own mini radio station in your house and only you can receive the transmission.

The headsets are wireless so you don’t have worry about wires tripping you up and you have more freedome when moving around your house. The main negative is the headphones requires batteries. So keep two sets of rechargeables in the house for when you need them.

Wireless headphones are built with one of three technologies. There are versions that use light instead of radio to transmit the sound. Known as IR headphones, and IR stands for infrared light. The drawback is IR headphones only work in the room where the light from the transmitter is visible. Think of your television remote.

For total freedome you should get RF headphones and use the radio waves. Some RF headphones are even bluetooth compatible. If the laptop or notebook you are on now as a bluetooth wireless adapter in it, you’ll be able to connect your computer and listen to music with your wireless headphones. Bluetooth is still new and I expect it will grow in popularity and become a main source of wireless headphone technology in a few years.

RF headphones can not be beat for freedom, range, and motion. You can even relax on the deck in the sun while enjoying music coming from a player located in your house. Once you try these out you will love the range of motion and I’m sure you’ll find tons of new uses for them.
